Looks like im getting laid off with the HTC ARIA - a entry level Android - not happy at all - let me know what choices options they give you Mark.

HTC Aria, Palm Pre Plus, and BlackBerry Curve are the smartphone choices.

This is a GOOD DEAL for everyone except HTC Desire owners - the Aria's a major downgrade; and BlackBerry Tour/Bold owners who want to stay BlackBerry - the Curve is a major downgrade and the Aria is Android which they may not want.

Yeah big disappointment - i have several phones with them - I test Cell phones for the Military - and have worked on the Aria and believe me - overall i would say its not nearly as good as the HERO CDMA-even when its rooted. I currently have (with Alltel) the desire which i just got - its nice the wildfire and the Hero - this is on my personal account and even with all those phone i still only have the option for free is the Aria. I am testing the Sony phone and Samsung Galaxy Androids for AT&T and i have to say Samsung is the way to go with them right now - its their top phone - the Sony is nice but still running an old android OS - They want me to pay 200 bones to upgrade to the Samsung and then i loose my current rates and plan - so all in all im just gonna wait till January and see if i can work a better deal - your thoughts?

I'm wondering how you can say the Aria isn't as good as the CDMA Hero. The Hero is VERY buggy and Alltel never released the update to fix the dialer lag even. The Hero has a slower processor, and less RAM. All around the Aria's a rather significant improvement I think..

I guess after playing with both phones and putting them through the ringer (it’s what I get paid to do lol) I see the Hero as a better phone – don’t ask me why it just is bro  - but on paper I know the ARIA is a better phone – hopefully you get better results than I did. If you have a way to get the desire or even the wildfire – the desire is a very sharp and quick phone – and rooted im telling you will be very happy but once the switch happens (att) your out of luck – are you thinking of just getting the ARIA? Oh btw the switch over is January 6th for where im at – do you know what day it happens there?

Obviously you've never actually seen the Hero do what it does... it lags a LOT. The lack of RAM and bugs in the stock software (bugs fixed on Sprint but not Alltel's Hero) lead to it sometimes taking a couple MINUTES to respond to clicks in the dialer, as one example. Even with Cyanogenmod the lack of RAM results in major slowdowns. I've seen other people's Hero's work much better (in terms of dialer performance on the stock ROM especially) and I think that it gets worse once you have more than a couple hundred contacts.

I'm going to go with the Aria, then get an iPhone 5 in June.

Lol - Didnt mean to upset you man - In my experience with the hero no major problems of course its not as fast as other andriod devices - but I am sorry to hear you are jumping ship to the Iphone - gotta say its a beautiful phone and i have both 3 and 4 and they work really well but i love the open source and flexaility with the Andriod platform
