Alltel frustrations and answers

Wow, pros and cons of the BlackBerry + data card world. I'm still having a few issues, one of them is that sometimes the BlackBerry Tour camera won't start (unable to start error and black screen) and the only fix is a battery pull (which wouldn't be quite so annoying if the thing didn't take an absurdly long 5 minutes to start). This is unresolved. The other issue I had was my data card would drop from EVDO Revision A ("Rev A") to 1XRTT (barely faster than dial-up) for no apparent reason. Even when I had Rev A, it was slow at my house. The dropping to 1X happened everywhere. Three calls to Alltel techs resulted in the idea that the only thing they could really see was the fact my PRL was wrong (50030 when it should be 41000) though that shouldn't make a difference. Finally, I gave up today and went to the store for help. After trying to manually load the correct PRL with no success the guy gave up and DOA'd my card. The replacement card STILL hasn't got the correct PRL sent to it - but it hasn't dropped to 1X once. Knock on wood. So I guess I did somehow get a bad card! Now waiting for the BlackBerry Tour glitches to be addressed in 5.0 which I hope comes for Alltel Tours given Alltel is vanishing...
